Toppin has to be the starter, right? He wasn't traded from a bench role to another bench role. Should be some interesting lineups, mix of veterans and youngsters. I just hope they quickly develop a defensive identity and run like mad.
Interesting stat from the Woj article announcing the trade: Toppin’s effective FG% in transition waa 75.1% last season. That was the best in the NBA. Second and third on that list were Tyrese Haliburton and Bruce Brown, respectively. All three are teammates in Indiana now. Safe to say the Pacers front office looked at that stat when deciding on Brown and Toppin.
Yeah, a running team with a defensive focus would be grand. Not sure how Toppin fits in there, he's not known for his defensive prowess with his lateral movement not being similar to his vertical. That being said, with Turner and Brown next to him... it could be good!
