Also, the decision to “win” this year rather than develop their future stars is setting the franchise back. Seeing Buddy friggin Hield start when he has no future with this franchise - and with so much draft capital is invested in players like Mathurin and Walker - highlights why the Pacers have the rep they do as a franchise.
You do need to take a step back and enjoy yourself. Has Kevin Pritchard made a move that hasn’t eventually worked out completely? Has Rick Carlisle hurt you in some way with his coaching style/technique? “So much draft capital?” You mean the standard first round pick all teams receive every year? I believe we can both grow AND compete at the same time. If you think Jarrace Walker is just rotting on the bench and not improving day by day with practice and time, then I can understand your frustrations but I don’t think that that is the case. Pacers won the first ever game in the IST, were the first team to ever advance to the knockout round, and shoot, let’s just be the first to win the whole damn thing :-)
Oh, I admit I’m a bit to keyed up in this. Kevin Pritchard has done some good things, but he’s never won anything in the NBA. If they fired him tomorrow, no one would care. And top 10 lottery picks are significant draft capital, not “standard.” Please don’t tell me I need to explain why that is.
Maybe I’m alone on a desert island here, but the lineup change by Carlisle was moronic. How can you preach the importance of defense only to sit Mathurin (who has improved as a defender) for Hield (who still cannot guard a potted plant)? Carlisle’s lucky they barely won the game. If they had lost after giving up over 150 points - including 40 and 46 points respectively in Qs 1 and 2 - the narrative today would be much different. Defensive coaching on this team is truly terrible.
Can you tell this season is frustrating the crap out of me? :)
I enjoyed the game. Team still frustrates me. I’m weird like that. :-)

Also, thanks for replying. Seriously.
