I’m curious why people think Bruce Brown has “fortified the rotation.” Not calling out Tom specifically on this because many have written/said this point. Brown hasn’t played well. His defensive rating isn’t good and he’s barely shooting over 30% from 3. The two things Brown was signed to do (3 and D) he hasn’t been good at. Why is he still starting?

Brad, I am with you on the bang for the buck Pacers are (actually, aren't) getting from Brown based on his inconsistent production. With the recent lineup adjustment while BB and Nembhard were in and out, I'd prefer it settled with Nembhard starting and BB off bench with Obi and Mathurin, just a good fit IMO. But overall, I still think he puts the rotation in a better spot than they were last season at this time.

That makes sense. I think it’s interesting because lineup consistency doesn’t seem to be a priority for Carlisle. He’s on the record saying this. I disagree that Mathurin should come off the bench. He’s outplayed Brown and others over the past 10 games and he is the team’s best scorer outside Haliburton. While Ty is out, it makes sense to start Benn and run the offense through him. He’s the only guy they have now that can go get a shot, and he’s is very much improved as someone moving the ball and involving teammates.

I'm not sure what games you are watching but Brown is (with Nesmith) 1 of the 2 best Pacers defensively. You do realize he's assigned one of the two main scorers right? NO body is shutting down stars in the nba. He makes them work, usually hard.

Hi MLB. I’m watching the same games the NBA is watching, and they have Brown with a 122 rating per 100 possessions. Last year with Denver, he was 114. Brown hasn’t played well defensively this year. That is a simple fact, based on statistical rating. That said, I thought Brown played one of his best games of the year tonight against Washington. But, as of now, if Brown continues continues with a 122 rating, his option is not worth picking up after this season.

And for context, Nesmith has a 120 rating and Mathurin has 123.

"Hasn't played well defensively". "Simple fact, based on statistical rating" (LOL). "Not worth picking up.."

Don't necessarily disagree with the last claim, but it's because his offense is generally poor. His defense is good on a bad defensive team.

Maybe that's why you can't SEE it, but base it on silly statistics that don't prove anything.

SAME rating as our other BEST defenders have........ hmmmmmmmm

Hey, I’m not going to tell you what you did and didn’t see. I’m saying that what the NBA sees, and what they see is not good defense. A 122 rating isn’t good. You don’t pay what the Pacers are paying Brown for a 122 rating. If it were somewhere between 116-118, that would be acceptable. The bottom line here is the NBA has not rated his defense well, which matches up with what I’ve seen too.

We have seen Hali hit the skids several times at Gainbridge. It seems to me that the guys in control of the floor mopping might need to have some input on how truly important their job is. It has major consequences, if the job is not performed correctly. It truly is a great example of how important all jobs are during the game.

In defense of the floor mop ball boys, there were four of five players in the paint for several seconds before Haliburton drove the lane. Not much you could do in this situation.

Did Ty change his shoes recently to a new brand/type?

He was wearing hi-tops which he doesn't usually, but I think about this a lot because he hits the ground so often, like his body doesn't always do things at a pace his brain is processing. If that makes sense.
