I'll keep this brief. I know that there are many directions that the franchise could go. Here are my thoughts as to some moves that the Pacers could make this offseason -- and to make this offseason one of the more memorable ones.
- Pick #4 Bennedict Mathurin
- Pick #31 Patrick Baldwin
- S&T Deandre Ayton (max contract) for Myles Turner + future 2nd round pick
- Trade: Brogdon, Hield to Lakers; Hayward and 2027 & 2029 future first round picks to Pacers; Westbrook to Hornets (plus or minus additional players)
- Sign Caleb Martin
- We can't sign Jalen Smith. We shouldn't sign TJ Warren.
C: Ayton, Jackson, Goga
PF: Martin, Brissett, Taylor
SF: Hayward, Mathurin, Baldwin
SG: Duarte, Washington
PG: Halliburton, TJ
We know that the Pacers want Hayward. I think he still has some left to give on the floor, if not as much as the Pacers FO thinks. This gives us future picks, value and creates potential for lob city with Halliburton feeding Ayton, Jackson, Martin, Brissett, Mathurin. Mathurin eventually overtakes Hayward and then we have 5 future first round picks 2027-2029.
I love Myles, but I think he will be looking to move on next off season. I don't blame him. Huge fan of his game, but I think having a lob threat at center with Ayton opens up more of the off season. Dribble penetration, pick and rolls, alley oops, open catch and shoot 3s.
