Happy NBA Draft Week everybody!
If you’ve been paying attention to mock drafts, player profiles and speculation about what the Pacers (and the rest of the NBA) may do on or around draft night on Thursday, then you are in the right place.
This is the season of legitimate reports turning into all kinds of additional reports with “sources” that aren’t revealed because we all know the source was the original report.
For instance, The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor mentioned the Pacers in his latest mock draft, reporting that the Pacers may be more likely to move the pick.
League sources say the Pacers are incredibly active in trade talks involving this pick, both for deals moving into the top 10 or out of the draft entirely. If they stay here, they’re in an intriguing position with a number of options...
It didn’t take long for similar reports with no more substance to arise. But KOC went further on the topic on The Mismatch podcast with Chris Vernon.
“They are having trade conversations, I have not seen reported that, I believe I had it in my story that they’ve had some conversations with the Pacers, the Pacers have been one of the more active teams, the name that I’ve heard involved in those conversations is Myles Turner,” KOC said on the pod.
This same podcast first mentioned the issues Bjorkgren was having with the Pacers and Sabonis in particular, before the dam broke on that story at the end of the season, so it is always worth a “hmm” when KOC brings up the Pacers.
Takes two to make a deal in the NBA so until the deal is done, and Kevin Pritchard is real good at talking around rumors and reports which keeps denials in play. So, enjoy all of the reports and rumors this week, just consider the source, per usual.
Oh, and please share your favorite or most frightening rumors and reports (No. 13 for Eric Gordon and No. 24? Wha?) in the comments.
