The Pacers have one last shot at beating the Washington Wizards and this time the stakes are do-or-die for both teams with the winner advancing to the first round of the NBA playoffs.
Ealier in the month, the Wiz ran all over the Pacers in D.C. and then rallied to beat the Pacers in overtime at the Fieldhouse. Russell Westbrook was a monster in both games and Bradley Beal tossed in a casual 50 points at BLF before tweaking a hammy and leaving early.
That hammy remains an issue for Beal whose game look well below 100 percent in Washington’s loss to Boston on Tuesday. Beal’s status notwithstanding, the Pacers still have to find a way to slow down Westbrook which they have failed to do in past matchups.
Plenty of question marks remain on the Pacers injury list, but they will be without Caris LeVert for sure. Malcolm Brogdon played 21 minutes on Tuesday and appeared to make it through unscathed, so hopefully he’s ready for a full go at the Wiz on Thursday. As usual, though, the Pacers will need to spread the wealth and get contributions inside and out from several players if they want to secure a second play-in win to make it to the playoffs.
