After falling in the final round a year ago, Domantas Sabonis came through this year, defeating Nikola Vucevic to win the Taco Bell Skills Challenge.

Sabonis had an incredibly efficient first two rounds in defeating Julius Randle and Luka Doncic, hitting the three point shot on the first attempt, not even needing the sizeable advantage he had built against Randle and Doncic in the passing portion of the competition.

In the finals, Vucevic’s urgency put Sabonis behind for the first time tonight, but Sabonis stayed calm, completing the pass and layup before outlasting Vucevic at the three point arc, missing his first three attempts before finally connecting for the win.

Sabonis is the first Indiana Pacers player to win the Skills Challenge, thanking Victor Oladipo afterwards for helping him prepare for the event. It’s not the end of the night for Sabonis or the Pacers however, as the big man will suit up in the All-Star Game for a half before Cassius Stanley flies into the Dunk Contest, a win Reggie Miller guaranteed.
