After a week of preseason work at the Ascension St. Vincent Center, the Pacers took a midday flight to New York on Monday where they will take on the Knicks in preseason game number on Tuesday.
As we learned last week at Media Day, the Pacers under Rick Carlisle are starting back at square one, tightening up the details on the defensive end while building a team culture to play better than the sum of the roster’s parts.
Throughout the week, we learned of a major focus on three-point shooting, including the bigs when playing five out on the offensive end. Hopefully, all of the available starters play at least one rotation at MSG to give us a glimpse of those basics the Pacers are focused on. Obviously, they will be saving the good stuff for the regular season, but that general team togetherness thing should be on display regardless of scheme.
With Caris LeVert and TJ Warren sidelined, it appears Justin Holiday and Jeremy Lamb will fill the open spots in the starting lineup with Malcolm Brogdon, Myles Turner and Domas Sabonis.
That will leave plenty of time for others battling for a spot in the rotation and/or a spot on the regular season roster. While preseason results are meaningless, these preseason games for the Pacers should be plenty entertaining with all of the questions surrounding the team as they prep for the regular season.
Other items of note:
- Single game tickets for the Pacers are on sale now.
- Gainbridge Fieldhouse will host Fan Jam this Sunday (Oct 10) to give fans a sneak peek at the newly renovated Fieldhouse.
- The remainder of the preseason schedule includes a second road game at Cleveland on Friday and then two home games next week with Memphis in on Wednesday (Oct. 13) and Cleveland on Friday (Oct. 15).
