The Pacers left some good news behind before boarding their charter for Toronto on Tuesday afternoon.
Caris LeVert returned to practice without restrictions and is now listed as questionable as he works to return to game action after being diagnosed with a stress fracture in his lower back. The team has since euphemized LeVert’s injury to a sore lower back and soon the silky scorer will be off the injured list completely and back in the lineup.
Rick Carlisle declined to speculate on when LeVert may be available, instead enjoying the positive news of the day. While LeVert is questionable for the Raptors game, he’s not expected to play. In fact, LeVert was non-committal when asked about playing in any games this week.
“I wouldn’t say that,” LeVert said. “I’m planning to play soon. We haven’t put a date on it yet. Like I said, I feel good, my body feels good. I’m just getting into game shape right now.”
Last season, LeVert made a sudden return after missing extended time due to cancer surgery. Following the season, he admitted he wasn’t physically ready from a basketball/conditioning stand point when he returned. But he went in and played the heavy minutes that were asked of him.
The context of this situation is much different and LeVert is surely in better conditioning shape at this point, so stay tuned in the near future for another pregame news drop that LeVert is active and ready to play.
