Pacers vs. Hornets: Preview and game thread

Happy opening night!!!

The Pacers tip off the 2021-22 NBA regular season on the road in Charlotte where they face the Hornets on Wednesday night.

The matchup immediately puts the effectiveness of the Myles Turner/Domantas Sabonis pairing to the test as they try to make it work once again, this time under their third coach, Rick Carlisle. The two centers may begin the game against a center-less Hornets team if PJ Washington does indeed start instead of Mason Plumlee. Regardless, the Pacers should have a front court advantage if Turbonis can make if work.

Equally important is the Pacers backcourt depth where Malcolm Brogdon is expected to return from a should injury. Justin Holiday and Jeremy Lamb are questionable, but at least one would help solidify the Pacers rotation for the night.

Assuming the Hornets go small, they will be on the attack led by dynamic point guard, LaMelo Ball who starts his second season with scorers around him in Terry Rozier and local legend, Gordon Hayward. Rozier remains questionable up to game time with a balky ankle.

Opening on the road is always a challenge, but this is a perfect, lets-see-what-we got starter for the Pacers. Getting off to a good start would be mighty nice considering the challenges that loom around the corner on the schedule.
