This one counts!
On opening night, the Pacers rallied from a 66-61 deficit at the half to beat the Knicks, 121-107. In what has become their signature move, the Pacers came out strong at both ends in the third quarter, only allowing the Knicks 17 points while seizing control of the game.
The Knicks in general and Julius Randle and R.J. Barrett in particular showed they have the juice to win any NBA game on any given night. Barrett scored 26 in the first meeting while Randle hit the Pacers with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Domantas Sabonis scored a career-high 32 points in the opener with Vic and Brogdon adding 22 and 21 points, respectively.
The Pacers are dealing with injury issues now, missing starter T.J. Warren for an extended period of time. They will get no sympathy from the Knicks who have had several players in and out of the lineup since preseason.
