The Pacers eventually took care of business on Monday afternoon and closed up shop on a win over the Wizards to move to 2-0 in Orlando. The win combined with a loss by the Miami Heat pulled the Pacers within a game of the fourth seed in the East.
Of course, with no real home court climbing up to fourth would be for very temporary bragging rights. Plus, the two teams finish the seeding session with a pair of games that will ultimately decide the matter if both can remain ahead of Philly.
But playing for something is better than playing for nothing.
On Tuesday evening, the Pacers play the Magic in their first bubble back-to-back game. These aren’t normal times and the struggle to grind through a back-to-back won’t be as daunting with no travel involved, as Malcolm Brogdon explained to J. Michael of the Indy Star after the win yesterday.
“That’s the benefit of this bubble. We’re not having to travel,” he said. “Flying in the air three or four hours to the next city takes a real toll on your body. The dehydration, the lack of sleep, all these things add up. This back-to-back won’t be as bad.”
It also won’t be as bad if Brogdon returns to play along with Victor Oladipo. Brogdon appeared to make it through the game with no neck issues which kept him out of the opener. Oladipo sat out the first game of the back-to-back with the plan to play in the second.
But the best part of the back-to-back is...another game!!!!!!!
