The Pacers (34-24) return to action at the Fieldhouse on Thursday night when they host the Trail Blazers (26-33).

The Blazers took care of business in the first meeting last month, rolling past a severely short-handed Pacers lineup, 139-129. This time around the Pacers will be in better shape. Yes, Jeremy Lamb is out for the season but the Pacers expect Victor Oladipo back in the lineup. With those teams around the Pacers in the standings stumbling, a win against Portland keeps the good guys in the mix for a move up the standings.

However, with the next five games on the road, the Pacers can shed any potential momentum by dumping this game at home. But the home team gets a break with Damian Lillard expected to miss the game. In Portland, Lillard scored 50, so now the Pacers can shift their focus to CJ McCollum who had a tidy 28 points in the last meeting.

Reggie Miller will be in the house in the role of analyst for TNT’s national television broadcast. Motivation and effort should not be an issue for the Pacers.
