The Pacers and Cavaliers wrap up their two-game preseason series in Cleveland on Monday night with an early 6 p.m. ET tip which should get the Pacers back to Indy before midnight win or lose.
The preseason playing rotations are always in limbo but with the regular season starting next week (!!!!!!!), getting healthy players more time on the court putting Nate Bjorkgren’s game plans to the test is important. JaKarr Sampson was the only player added to the injury report, so the rotations will likely look similar to the game on Saturday when the Cavs snatched a 107-104 win on a last second layup by Isaac Okoro, with one exception.
Goga time! Well, maybe. The second-year big man could be available after sitting out the first game, pending how his pregame workout goes.
As for the Cavs, Kevin Love will be out along with Collin Sexton and a few other players are questionable so the Cavs rotations will be jumbled.
The Pacers will continue to push the pace while trying to minimize the turnovers which came in bunches through the first three quarters of the game. Bjorkgren felt most of the miscues were from an effort to push the pace which was welcomed by the new coach in the midst of altering the team’s mindset. The Pacers also had only five shots from outside the paint but inside the three-point line, very roughly about half of what they averaged last year.
Those little things are areas to watch as the Pacers adjust to a new style of play.
