The Pacers are down to their last life, playing Game 4 against the Celtics at home after dropping the first three games of the series.
All three losses have followed similar scripts including deadly dry spells for the Pacers on offense fueled by poor execution while the Celtics seem to always have an answer that usually includes some part of Kyrie Irving’s game.
Following Game 3, the Celtics had no interest in a gentleman’s sweep, instead wanting to focus on ending the series in Indy — getting while the getting is good. As Nate McMillan mentioned, the Pacers haven’t played their best basketball, highlighting the Celtics’ 41-point first quarter and Pacers’ 12-point third quarter as glaring problems.
Any team in Boston doesn’t want to give life to an opponent down 0-3. While the full comeback from 0-3 hasn’t happened in basketball, all Boston fans remember when their Red Sox pulled off the feat over the Yankees in 2004. A stolen base by Dave Roberts in Game 4 started a rally that sparked four consecutive wins.
