Pacers win coin flip, will pick 18th in NBA draft

The Pacers picked up another win on Friday, but this one improved their draft position.

The basketball gods rewarded the Pacers on Friday when they picked up another W at the NBA league offices where a series of coin flips settled a three-way tie for the 18th, 19th and 20th draft positions.

The Spurs and Clippers finished the season at 48-34, just like the Pacers. The Pacers could’ve wrapped up the 18th spot with a loss in Atlanta, but somehow found a way to win. Despite several key players sitting out, the Pacers enjoyed a strong effort from a few vets and several young players, ending with Edmond Sumner making three free throws to steal the win.

Treat the game well and the game will return the favor. At least that’s what happened with the Pacers after they won the series of coin flips to jump ahead of the Spurs and Clippers (actually the Celtics who hold LAC’s pick). The coin was kind after putting forth a winning effort to end the regular season.

Two years ago, the Pacers also had the 18th pick and chose T.J. Leaf who will likely see some meaningful minutes in the first round of the playoffs depending on how the series plays out.

Who would you like to see the Pacers take this year?
