The Pacers’ road trip continues full steam ahead when they play the Clippers on Tuesday night for their third game in four days and second in a row.
Playing playoff teams, particularly on the road, has been a struggle for the Pacers. Those teams normally have a capital G “Guy” to make things go at winning time, while the Pacers are rolling by committee with their “Guy” rehabbing after knee surgery.
Nikola Jokic and Damian Lillard were primary difference makers in the second half of the last two games, but the Clips rely on a different formula which better suits the Pacers. Their main guy has become Lou Williams off the bench, and while he can get buckets with the best of ‘em around the league he’s not as dynamic a threat as say, Dame. Yes, his numbers have been stupid good of late during the Clips’ recent run of home games, but he remains a volume shooter/scorer.
The Pacers handled the Clips, 116-92 at the Fieldhouse shortly after the team appeared to break things up by trading Tobias Harris and several other players in early February. But since then, the Clips have adjusted and won 11 of their 15 games to remain in playoff contention in the West.
The Pacers have to shake of the SEGABABA fog and find a way to avoid the mid-game lull to be in position to win at the end of the game. Then they have a chance to salvage a win on this roadie which is been nothing but frustrating so far.
