The Pacers complete their season series against the Mavericks at the American Airlines Center, looking to bounce back from a tough loss in Detroit that cost them Domantas Sabonis in the process.
The Pacers sixth man will sit out the game in Dallas due to a sprained ankle which puts Kyle O’Quinn back in the rotation, this time pinch playing off the bench. KOQ filled in nicely in the starting lineup for Myles Turner last week.
The Pacers ran past the Mavs for a 111-99 win at the Fieldhouse last month. That was prior to the trade deadline and Victor Oladipo’s injury which changed the season for both teams, respectively. The Mavs traded Dennis Smith, Jr., Wesley Matthews and DeAndre Jordan as part of a deal for Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr.
Porzingis remains out with injury and the loss of depth in the short term has the Mavs riding a stretch of six losses in their last seven games. To be fair, two of those losses were without Luka Doncic who remains the show for Dallas.
The Pacers benefitted from the Mavs’ trade, as well scooping up Wesley Matthews after the Knicks released him. Matthews has already made an impact on the Pacers while trying to help fill the crater in the lineup left by Oladipo’s injury. There should be no shortage of motivation for Matthews as he goes against the team that traded him by surprise.
