The Pacers (18-9) host LeBron James and the Lakers (24-3) for their annual visit to the Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.
Of course, joining LeBron this time around is Anthony Davis, hence the gaudy record for the Lakers thru 27 games. However, AD tweaked his ankle in Atlanta and is questionable to play. Both key players for the Lakers have minimized their missed time so far with Davis missing one game and LBJ none. Still, considering Davis’ health history, a night off to nurse the ankle would make sense.
Regardless of AD’s presence the Lakers are rolling under Frank Vogel with a stingy defense that currently ranks second in the league, three spots ahead of the Pacers. Thanks to the dynamic playmaking ability of James, the Lakers don’t rely on a traditional point guard and their size could be an issue for the Pacers bench.
T.J. McConnell and Aaron Holiday have actually created mismatches with their quick, attacking styles despite being a diminiutive pairing on paper. They will surely be tested against the Lakers length. Edmond Sumner returned from another solid showing with the Mad Ants and could provide a better matchup, if needed.
