Victor Oladipo is cleared to play 5-on-5 in a half-court setting, per the Indiana Pacers Twitter account.
Nate McMillan said this should be a good sign for Pacers fans.
“That’s a good sign,” he said, in the Pacers tweet. “He’s been doing some things one-on-one, but he will be able to go five-on-five half-court with the team.”
Scott Agness reported that there is no updated timeline for Oladipo, but the team will be evaluating him over the next few weeks as he goes live in the half-court.
It has been reported that Oladipo is aiming at a December or January return.
He has not played since rupturing his quad tendon on January 23 against the Toronto Raptors.
This is certainly a good sign for Oladipo and the Pacers, as going live in the half-court is improvement over what he has been doing.
But it will still be wise for the Pacers to play it slow with Oladipo. Indiana has the sixth easiest schedule through the months of October and November, so there is no reason to rush him into action when the team may be able to stay afloat against weaker competition without him.
Still, this is exciting news for Pacers and Oladipo fans.
