The Pacers try for a landmark win on Sunday when they host the Heat.

NBA: Miami Heat at Indiana Pacers Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Pacers look to beat the Heat and clinch a playoff spot when they host Miami on Sunday evening at the Fieldhouse.

A win will also give the Pacers a better record than last season with eight games to spare, an impressive feat considering the amount of changes and drama involved in the upheaval. Miami remains motivated to upgrade their playoff position and can not only pick up a game on the Pacers with a win, but also lock up the tie breaker.

Hassan Whiteside (hip) will be out for the Heat which should help the Pacers since Domas Sabonis (ankle) is now expected to play. While the Heat can’t clinch with a win, they will undoubtedly make the playoffs which has forced Coach Spo to knock down rumors they are resting Wade and Whiteside for the playoff. Considering the injury issues in Boston, remaining in that seventh seed looks pretty good. Hmm...
