Trevor Booker will sign a minimum deal with the Indiana Pacers for the remainder of the season, once he clears waivers, league sources tell Yahoo.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) February 28, 2018
Booker, a 6’8” 230 lb. power forward, is in his eighth NBA season and was waived by the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday to create room for Ersan Ilyasova. Before his time in Philadelphia, he spent time in Washington, Utah, and Brooklyn.
In his career, the veteran has averaged 7.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game on 51.7% FG shooting. Last year, in perhaps the best season of his career, Booker averaged 10.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in 24.7 minutes (including 43 starts) with the Nets. However, he has seen a reduction in playing time - just 15.0 minutes per game - this season with the 76ers.
It is expected that Booker will come off the bench at the power forward position to finalize the Pacers rotation. He will likely play alongside Domantas Sabonis, who plays a similar style of basketball.
The Indiana Pacers now have a full 15-man roster as they continue to chase the 3-seed in the East.
