Just when the Pacers appear to be adjusting to playing without Victor Oladipo, the short-handed degree of difficulty may increase significantly on Friday night if Domantas Sabonis is also unavailable against the Magic.
Per @pacers PR, Domantas Sabonis is questionable for tonight’s game with an illness.— Jeremiah Johnson (@JJFSINDIANA) December 7, 2018
A midday injury update from the Pacers has Sabonis listed as questionable due to an illness. The questionable status keeps hope alive that Domas will be able to play, as he has when listed as questionable on two different occasions recently.
Sabonis played through a sore back and sore ankle in earlier games, but if his illness is bad enough to force an injury update a few hours before tip time, it seems more likely he’s a risk to sit out this one. Even more so when you consider this is the first game of a back-to-back.
Sabonis has played a key role in helping fill the void left by Oladipo, but if he is unable to go, a few players (looking at you Bojan, Tyreke, Myles...CoJo...Thad...OK, eveyone) will have to play huge to cover for the 35 points that will be missing from the lineup.
