Hawks vs. Pacers: Game thread, lineups, TV info and more

The Pacers host the Hawks for an early tip time on New Year’s Eve.

NBA: Indiana Pacers at Atlanta Hawks Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

The Pacers wrap up play in 2018 with an afternoon delight against the Hawks at Fieldhouse starting at 3 p.m. ET.

The perfect way to begin any New Year’s Eve celebration will see the Pacers try to beat the Hawks for the second time in less than a week. The Pacers won a 129-121 shootout in Atlanta last Wednesday after taking control of the game in the third quarter and then holding on to close out the win.

Thad Young lead the Pacers with 21 points but the 19 points off the bench from Tyreke Evans was the highlight for the Blue and Gold. As for the Hawks, Kent Bazemore caught fire and dropped 32 on the Pacers.

Bazemore will not be a problem this time around after spraining his ankle in the Hawks’ last game which will keep him out for a couple of weeks. The Hawks have won five of their last six games, losing only to the Pacers and Bazemore had been averaging over 20 points per game in the five games before leaving midway through their last game against Cleveland.

As mentioned last week, the young Hawks aren’t giving away games and will show up ready to go under new coach Lloyd Pierce.

This is the third meeting between the two teams this season with the Pacers winning the first two games. Their final meeting will be the last game of the season in April.
