The Pacers didn’t have much time to celebrate Christmas yesterday as they prepared to face the Hawks in Atlanta on Wednesday night.
The normal flight time was pushed back from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. to give the team a few extra hours with family on Christmas, but the schedule and day of the year actually work out perfectly to play in Atlanta, a notoriously challenging city to keep players focused on the road.
Oh, and please don’t sleep on the Hawks assuming the Pacers don’t have to be at their best to bring home a win tonight. Atlanta has won their last three games and will not roll over under first-year head coach, Lloyd Pierce. Plus, the Cavs loss will serve as a reminder that any loss is possible this season.
In the first meeting between the teams, the Pacers overcame a clunky start to beat the Hawks, 97-89. Aaron Holiday made his presence known for the first time, outplaying fellow rook, Trae Young in the second half.
