The Pacers remain on the road Friday night when they play the Chicago Bulls at the United Center where they will try to win their fourth consecutive road game.
At 5-3, the Pacers have the same record after eight games as they did last season. Now, they will try to avoid maintaining the same pace. Last year, the Pacers lost their next four games after a 5-3 start. A win over the Bulls will help them avoid that fate, but a loss will make things challenging with Boston, Houston and Philadelphia at the Fieldhouse for the next three games.
The Pacers do catch a break against the young Bulls who will be extremely short-handed, while still dangerous. Zach LaVine is averaging 28 points per game and rookie Wendell Carter Jr. set a nice career-high, eight games into his career with 25 points in a touch loss to the Nuggets on Wednesday.
Lauri Markkanen, Kris Dunn, Bobby Portis and Denzel Valentine are all out for the Bulls. Portis was a preseason menace against the Pacers when he made a few three pointers and scored 20 points as the Bulls worked over the Pacers in the final practice game.
This one is for real though and the Pacers have a real opportunity to log another road win which they can not take for granted in the first game of a back-to-back. No time to look ahead to the Celtics on Saturday, gotta stay on the road grind and keep pace in the East.
