Pacers links: NBA scouts like Pacers in East, everyone loves Victor Oladipo

Among the numerous annual NBA previews I always enjoy is the anonymous scout comments on each team compiled by SI.com. Scouts immersed in tracking certain teams always give a good idea of what opponents think your team and which players or lineups cause concern.

This year, the take on the Pacers is that they should contend in the East, which certainly isn’t any earth-shattering insight even if a scan of other national previews reveal it is hip to downgrade and doubt the Pacers can play as well as last season. But according to the SI.com anonymous scouts, Tyreke Evans makes the Pacers better.

. . . If Tyreke Evans is in shape, if he’s motivated, I think that’s an amazing f---ing pickup. What Tyreke did in Memphis last year was unreal. His talent overall can win you games. I think Victor Oladipo needs a guy like that in crunch time. You’re not going down to Myles Turner on the block. He’s a much-better, less-erratic, more consistent version of Lance Stephenson. The offense isn’t going to be free-flowing, but you need someone like Tyreke, when you’re down eight entering the fourth and he gets you six. I think he enhances them. . .

Also, the local legend that is Victor Oladipo continues to grow in stature after a fan in the drive thru line at Chik-fil-a near Keyston at the Crossing caught the lightning quick guard slowing down to help a woman using a walker and her husband exit the restaurant.

Along with the act of kindness, I also love the fact that Vic went in the restaurant to get his food instead of staying behind the tinted glass of a car in the drive thru.

The Pacers had the day off on Thursday after their eight-day road trip and return to work on Friday with a focus on facing the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. Soon!!!
