The Pacers returned to practice at the St. Vincent Center on Tuesday after ten days away for their last five games.
Ending the trip with a solid win in San Antonio allowed the Pacers to return in a positive frame of mind and there was more good news to bolster those good feelings on Tuesday. Along with Victor Oladipo making his first NBA All-Star game, center Myles Turner’s injury status was upgraded to questionable for the team’s game against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.
After cheerleading with an elbow brace on the road, Turner was soaked in sweat and appeared eager to get back in the mix after practicing with his team on Tuesday.
“I feel pretty good,” Turner said after practice. “I went through a full day of practice today, so in my head I’m always ready to play.
The Pacers pounded the Suns on in the first game of their roadie, so while it may seem they could survive another day without Turner, this game may be a good opportunity to bring Turner off the bench for a few minutes. Nate McMillan didn’t commit to anything but indicated he would likely bring Turner off the bench, if he was able to play at all.
On Tuesday evening, Turner posted a quick clip on Instagram with him making a shot with the caption, Almost There. No doubt Turner will be a game-time decision and maybe an in-game decision depending on how the game goes. But when asked about taking it easy on the dunks after his last hammer job caused the injury, Turner wasn’t having it.
”No man, that’s the game of basketball, I’m just gonna play,” Turner said.
