The Pacers will be plenty busy on and off the court on Saturday as the Summer Pacers take on the Magic in Orlando, while the front office staff keeps one eye on the court and another on their phones during the first day of NBA free agency period.

Those phones may be blowing up on Saturday after the relatively small bounty they fetched for Paul George. The rest of the league may think there’s a Marsh closeout sale going on at the Fieldhouse.

On the court, the Pacers will have some familiar faces but will not have rookie T.J. Leaf who will miss the opener in Orlando to attend his brother’s wedding.

Popeye Jones will be coaching the Summer P’s with Rakeem Christmas, Georges Niang and Joe Young all expected to play a part in Orlando. The remainder of the roster includes free agents who will play under different circumstances than usual.

With the Pacers’ future in flux and a rebuild on the way, there a plenty of potential openings on the Pacers roster which any of these players could work their way into with a solid showing in Orlando.

Second round picks, Ike Anigbogu (knee) and Edmond Sumner (knee/shoulder) will both be with the team in Orlando but will not play as they continue to recover from recent injuries.

The Summer Magic will be led by rookie Jonathan Isaac and a few familiar backcourt players. Former Butler sharpshooter, Kellen Dunham will play along with a couple of Big Ten guards, Kalin Lucas (Michigan St) and Derrick Walton (Michigan).
