The Pacers host the Miami Heat on Sunday evening in an important matchup for two teams battling for playoff positioning with a month left in the NBA regular season.
The Pacers had a rough night off on Saturday after losing to the Bucks on Friday night, as the results of other games put the sixth spot in the East — where the Pacers reside on Sunday afternoon — in jeopardy should they add another loss by the end of the night.
In fact, with a loss the Pacers would be pushed to the edge of falling out of the top eight in the East. They would maintain the sixth spot, tied with Detroit, but fall within one more loss of dropping behind Milwaukee (Bucks have tie breaker) and Miami. Yep, the playoffs are now.
Miami has been winning a lot lately including their last four games which includes two wins over Cleveland (one sans LeBron) and wins over Charlotte and Toronto. The schedule favors the Pacers since that win over the Raptors was Saturday night putting the Heat in a back-to-back situation.
Needless to say, the Pacers should be treating this matchup like a playoff game since they are already playing for their playoff life at this point.
