The Pacers face the challenge of playing the second game of a back-to-back against the Mavericks on Wednesday after taking a disheartening loss in Detroit on Tuesday.
After initially rallying from an early 23-point deficit the Pacers were eventually overwhelmed for good midway through the second half. If you dig deep into the muck of the L, the sole bright spot was the fact no one played over 30 minutes and to put it politely, there should be plenty left in the tank for any of the players who were on the court in Detroit.
But the Pacers did not emerge from the ugliness unscathed heading into the matchup with the Mavs. Rotation regulars, Victor Oladipo (sore right knee) and Domantas Sabonis (sore left big toe) are listed as questionable on the Pacers injury report.
Alext Poythress (sore left thumb) is also listed as probable, so I’m sure the two-way players will make sure he’s available after proving to be one of the few bright spots in Detroit, earning extended minutes on the court.
Oladipo scored just 13 points in Detroit and sat out his usual fourth quarter minutes with the game out of reach.
The questionable players will surely be re-evaluated as the game draws closer to tip time to determine their availability. Nate McMillan indicated he may juggle his lineup after another frustrating start against the Pistons. Let’s hope he does so with all of his options available, as opposed to being forced into the change with key players out.
Injury report for tonight vs. Dallas.
