The Pacers will try to maintain their offensive pace after scoring 140 in the season opener which will be necessary. The Blazers had a similar offensive outburst in their 124-76 win over Phoenix, but played much of the second half in garbage time after posting a 98-55 lead after three quarters.
The Blazers lit up the Suns without C.J. McCollum, one of their top scoring threats who was suspended for leaving the bench during an altercation in the final preseason game. The Pacers were hoping to make some defensive adjustments and they will have to put those into action quickly or this will surely be another race to 130 points.
Portland has some Indiana connections with rookie Boogie Swanigan out of Purdue and Noah Vonleh form IU. Swanigan had 8 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in his 18-minute NBA debut on Wednesday. Vonleh, starting his fourth NBA season, is dealing with a shoulder injury.
Myles Turner is listed as doubtful on the Pacers injury list with a sore neck courtesy of Trevor Booker.
