Glenn Robinson III Named to 2017 Slam Dunk Contest

It appears that the Indiana Pacers’ GR3 will have the opportunity to showcase his athleticism on the national level, as he has been named to this year’s Slam Dunk contest.

While Paul George may be a heavy favorite to represent the Indiana Pacers as a reserve in the All Star game next month, the team now has another player that will see action during All-Star Weekend.

Third-year player Glenn Robinson III has been selected to participate in the 2017 Slam Dunk contest. The news comes via Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical. While it is not fully clear as to who else will be featured in the event, expect Robinson to compete with the Orlando Magic’s Aaron Gordon at the very least. Zach Lavine — last year’s winner of the contest — is expected to not participate in the contest this time around.

For Robinson, this is a great opportunity for him to make a name for himself to others that may not be following the Pacers closely this season. Regardless of what happens throughout the event, Robinson has been a nice asset to a Pacers team that has struggled mightily throughout the course of the season, and being named to the Slam Dunk contest is just one accomplishment that both he and the team hope can kickstart a productive tenure in this league.

The Dunk Contest will take place on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. ET in New Orleans.
