For his first day on the job as head coach of the Pacers, Nate McMillan met with the media for a couple of hours to answer to answer many similar questions about the future that had no clear-cut answer. Hopefully, the wave of pace and efficiency analysis of past McMillan teams has passed, as well since after hearing Bird comment on the situation twice now, it appears this move had far more to do with team dynamic than pace and/or space.
Now it is back to basketball.
McMillan and the rest of the Pacers basketball staff will be in a far more comfortable environment on Tuesday as the return to the gym to work out players in advance of the NBA draft.
As we mentioned last week, forward Troy Williams (Indiana) and guard Isaiah Cousins (Oklahoma) will be among the six players working out. However, Melo Trimble will not be among the players at the Fieldhouse on Tuesday.
The other players expected to workout are forward Dorian Finney-Smith (Florida), forward Michael Gbinije (Syracuse), shooting guard Sheldon McClellan (Miami, Fl), point guard Tyrone Wallace (California).
If you matchup the players, Wallace and Cousins are a match while the other four wing prospects can mix-and-match. I'm a big fan of Wallace, having seen him play several times, including in person. He has great guard size and plays with a great spirit, but the jumper he had at Cal will make it tough for him to play in the NBA.
The Pacers currently have draft picks No. 20 and No. 50, so all of the players in for their first workout would be considered in the second round at No. 50
