Pacers Links: Pacers play Hornets before tweaking roster over the weekend

New, comments

The Pacers had a tumultuous off day in Charlotte on Thursday with news of roster moves breaking while the team prepared to play the Hornets on Friday.

The Pacers added a little off-day excitement to their road trip with news of negotiations to bring in point guard Ty Lawson and waive Chase Budinger breaking throughout the afternoon.

Obviously, this was not news to the team, let alone Budinger if he had a buyout agreement in place for over a week, as Candace Buckner reported.

Regardless, if Budinger does indeed remain with the team for the game tonight, it does add an odd dynamic. C.J. Miles remains out and since he's been on the shelf, Budinger has played around 15 minutes off the bench. Will he continue that role tonight? Will Glenn Robinson III slide into the rotation?

The Pacers have major issues with the Hornets and if Budinger still gives them the best chance to win, you would want to use him. CB reports that Budinger practiced with the Pacers on Thursday and expects to be in uniform but the human dynamic will make for a strange situation if he checks in for a reserve run.

Hey, since we don't have to worry about a suspension, maybe Bud can goad Kemba Walker into a fight that gets both of them tossed. Now that would be an epic way to exit stage left from Indy and make his short stay with the Pacers legendary.

Just a thought.

Editor's Note: SB Nation's partner FanDuel is running a $200,000 fantasy basketball league tonight. It's $2 to enter and first place wins $15,000. Join now!
