Myles Turner earns Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month nod

New, comment

The Pacers big man has quickly become a key cog in his rookie year and the rest of the league took notice in February.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Pacers rookie Myles Turner was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for February, a first-time and well-deserved honor for the 19-year-old big man out of Texas.

Turner's numbers have been strong, ranking third among East rookies in scoring (13.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.6 rpg). He also ranked second in shooting percentage (51 percent) and blocks (1.8 bpg). More importantly for the Pacers, Turner's emergence in the starting lineup has helped level out the playing rotation and give the Pacers a variety of matchup options with  both the starting and reserve lineups.

Plus, he made plays like the following to bring us all to our feet. In fact, the block of LeBron jump-started the month of February for Turner, leading to the ROM honor. Congrats Myles Turner!

Minnesota rookie Karl-Anthony Towns was named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for the fourth consecutive month.
