The Indiana Pacers have decided to assign rookie forward Georges Niang to the NBA’s development league, where he will play for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. The news comes via the Pacers’ official Twitter account.

The Pacers selected Niang with the 50th overall selection in the 2016 NBA Draft. He had previously played collegiately at Iowa State University, averaging 20.5 points in his final year with the Cyclones.

Thus far his rookie campaign, Niang has only appeared in 13 games — usually appearing in the closing minutes of a blowout win or loss. With Paul George, C.J. Miles and Glenn Robinson III on the Pacers’ current roster, it goes as no surprise as to why the team has decided to move the 23 year-old to the D-League.

The Pacers (10-11) travel to Arizona Wednesday night to take on the Phoenix Suns (6-14), with tipoff scheduled for 9 p.m. ET.
