At full strength, the Pacers were looking at a rough matchup against the Thunder on Sunday evening. Like most teams in the NBA, trying to cover Russell Westbrook would be nearly impossible. Westbrook is averaging over 31 points, nearly 10 rebounds and just over 10 assists per game.
But the Pacers are not at full strength with Paul George (ankle), C.J. Miles (knee) and Kevin Seraphin (knee) all rules out. After watching the Pacers struggle without PG and Miles against the Suns, it is borderline frightening to consider what Westbrook and Co. may throw at the Pacers.
They will still play the game, though and the situation creates an opportunity for players like Glenn Robinson III, Myles Turner and Jeff Teague to rise up and take advantage. Turner did just that last year in OKC, rising up to knock down a late three which suddenly flipped the game in the Pacers favor. But, yeah, it won’t be easy.
Former IU star, Victor Oladipo has adjusted nicely to playing next to Westbrook, averaging over 17 points per game.
