The Pacers continue their quest to figure out how to play well in a new system with new coach and several new players when they host the Lakers on Tuesday.
The familiarity excuse won’t hold up against the Lakers considering they have a young team with a new coach and five new players including starters Luol Deng and Timofey Mozgov.
Hopefully the friendly environment at the Fieldhouse will get the Pacers rolling at both ends of the floor. Playing better defense will lead to better shot opportunities which should lead to more offensive production. That’s the formula Nate McMillan and Paul George espoused on Monday which sounds like a great plan.
After shootaround this morning, McMillan mentioned that Aaron Brooks is expected to play.
The Lakers are 1-2 with an impressive win over the Rockets on opening night followed by losses to the Jazz and Thunder. They have no shortage of guys willing to rise up and take shots, so that Pacers defense will need to be ready to go. Last year, they had one guy who did most of the hoisting but Kobe Bryant has retired which will make it weird seeing the Lakers at the Fieldhouse this year.
