With preseason action ending last week, the Pacers spent the weekend shifting into regular season mode. Following the Fan Jam event on Sunday, the team cut the roster down to 15 to set the final roster.
As they prepare to face the Mavericks on Wednesday, the Pacers are stressing the basics while still incorporating a few new faces and developing a new style of play. Nate McMillan has the team focusing on defense and communicating, while Paul George wants to see a consistent effort.
Like past teams, PG is aware that this group can’t flip a switch to improve play as needed, but instead has to bring an aggressive effort from the opening tip.
Also, there are no high expectations for rookie Georges Niang but he has impressed enough in preseason to earn some minutes when needed outside the regular playing rotation. Will that keep the rook from making the trek to Fort Wayne during the season?
