The spotlight during and headlines following the game focused on Myles Turner, but the Pacers don't beat the Hawks without the fourth-quarter heroics of Monta Ellis and George Hill.
The inconsistent backcourt duo teamed up for an efficient thrashing of the Hawks, spearheading a 23-2 run to close out the win. The play of Turner with the starting unit seemed to smooth out all of the problems in the playing rotation and maybe the threat the rook poses at the offensive end opened more options for Monta and G3, but regardless they stepped up to take advantage.
The pair combined to score 43 points on just 20 shots -- ridiculous numbers bolstered by making 8 of 11 three-pointers. Ellis added six assists and five steals while making plays down the stretch that blew open a tight game to create a comfortable win. While Monta shows up to play everyday, his body doesn't always respond as the mind would hope.
Knee issues have improved of late which combined with more days off has helped bring some bounce back to Monta's game. How long that will last is unknown, but hopefully the Pacers can continue to take advantage while Monta is feeling good.
