The Pacers recalled Shayne Whittingon from the D-League on Monday which on the surface appeared to be bad news for the injury status of Ian Mahinmi. The Pacers starting center sat out most of the team's practice on Monday but Frank Vogel held out hope that Mahinmi would be able to give it a go on Tuesday night when the Pacers host the Clippers, claiming there was a 50 percent chance he'll play.
So Mahinmi will either play or he won't. We'll see...which doesn't actually sound real promising.
Vogel also indicated that Whittington's recall was more a reward for his work with the Mad Ants as opposed to an emergency insurance move for the front court. The idea is to reward Whittington and Rakeem Christmas at different points in the season as an 'atta boy' and to keep them involved with the big club.
Rodney Stuckey (foot) remains out for the Pacers while the Clippers continue to play without Blake Griffin (hand) who somehow broke his hand while trying to return from a quad injury.
