NBA Summer League: Pacers vs. Pistons game thread

New, comments

The Orlando Pro Summer League continues on Wednesday with an afternoon matchup between the Summer Pacers and Summer Pistons.

Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

The Summer Pacers will play just their third game in five days when they play the Detroit Pistons at 3pm on Wednesday in the Orlando Pro Summer League.

The Pacers are 0-2 and worse, have just four points in the Summer League standings that award four points for a win and one point for winning an individual quarter. Fortunately, the Pacers have been entertaining since rookies Myles Turner and Joseph Young along with Shayne Whittington, three players that may actually play with the Pacers next season, are providing the highlight moments.

Unfortunately for the team, they have just two games remaining to dig themselves out of the final two spots in the standings which earns the booby prize of having to play the last game on Friday at 4 pm ET. Also, Dan Burke reported this morning on radio with Conrad Brunner and Big Joe that Whittington will not play in the remaining games. He was sent home to handle some family issues.

As for the Pistons, they are 1-2 with just nine points in three games, so the Pacers could jump up quickly with a win today. Rookie top pick, Stanley Johnson out of Arizona is the shining star to keep an eye on for the Pistons. Also, former Cathedral star/Purdue flameout/IU agitator, Kelsey Barlow is on the Summer Pistons. Barlow didn't play in the first two games in Orlando, but took advantage of an opportunity in the third game, posting 12 points, four assists and three rebounds in 17 minutes. Barlow played 45 games for the Grand Rapids Drive in the D-League last season.

The 3 pm ET tip can be seen on NBA TV or NBA.com. Share your thoughts on the game or other offseason happenings.
