The Pacers have a future-altering opportunity, albeit a miniscule one, on Tuesday evening when the NBA holds their annual draft lottery, televised on ESPN at 8:30 p.m. ET prior to the tip of the Western Conference finals.
There's no time for negativity despite the long odds. If you're in it you can win it, to loosely paraphrase many state lottery ad campaigns, and the Pacers are going all in on their 1.15% chance to move up into the top three draft slots by sending Larry Bird to represent the Pacers in New York.
As denggoy1 suggested, hopefully Bird strolls into the draft lottery headquarters and says, "Which one of you guys is going to finish second?"
If only it was an executive shootout for the top pick.
Instead, the Pacers are more likely going to hold their spot at No. 11 in the draft, but until the lottery sets that spot in stone, who are your top three choices if the Pacers are lucky enough to move into one of the top three spots?
Based on current values, I'd go with: 1. Karl Anthony-Towns, 2. Jahlil Okafor, 3. Emmanuel Mudiay
