Klay Thompson hadn't score over 30 points all season. He scored 39 against the Pacers on Tuesday night.
Thompson hadn't made more than four three-pointers in the first 22 games. He drained 10 from behind the arc against the Pacers.
What is it about the Pacers that brings out the best in Thompson?
In his only visit to the Fieldhouse last season, Thompson also scored 39 points. That was after torching the Pacers for 40 points early in the season at Golden State.
Thompson has "struggled" in the first quarter of the season, averaging around 18 points but not shooting the deep ball as well as usual, but without harm to the team thanks to the exploits of Steph Curry.
It was just a matter of time before Thompson got loose and he did so without mercy against the Pacers. Being forced to guard two guys from 30 feet and in (35 feet?) creates a defensive dynamic ripe for breakdowns.
Klay Thompson too full advantage in a performance the Pacers won't soon forget. As impressive as it is painful.
