Timing does not favor the Pacers on Monday night when they make their annual visit to San Antonio to face the Spurs.
The Pacers have really struggled to put the ball in the hoop through their past two games. At home on Friday, the missed shots were actually encouraging because the team was able to win and there were few poor shots among the misses. But the clanks continued in Memphis and now after a day off in San Antonio, the Pacers find themselves in a game with no margin for error.
The Spurs have won their last five games including the last three at home. Assuming Gregg Popovich doesn't determine this a night of rest for his veteran stars, the Pacers will have to go big to combat the front court of Tim Duncan and LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge has success around the hoop, but also does a lot of damage scoring away from the hoop. Regardless, LMA would remain a physical problem for C.J. Miles to deal with while trying to find his stroke on the offensive end.
