The Pacers face the Chicago Bulls for the first regular-season matchup between the Central Division rivals on Monday night at the United Center. Unfortunately, the Pacers will be short-handed playing without George HIll and Rodney Stuckey.
Candace Buckner reports that GHill didn't make the trip to Chicago, staying home instead to take care of an upper respiratory infection. Sixth man Rodney Stuckey (ankle) will also sit out again which means another new starting lineup and the likely appearance of Solomon Hill and rookie Joe Young in the playing rotation.
So what appeared to be a great test for the Pacers improved play of late has become a survival effort. Paul George has been the driving force for the Pacers so they still have the firepower needed to put forth a winning effort. Maybe the new blood in the lineup can provide a little spark, as well.
The Bulls have won their last two games and are playing with a little different lineup under Fred Hoiberg. With Joakim Noah coming off the bench, the Bulls have a lineup that the Pacers' spread lineup would normally match up well, against. In fact, they may try to maintain a spread look with Chase Budinger starting instead of Lavoy Allen as Monta Ellis slides to fill George Hill's spot.
As has been the case several times this year for the Pacers, it is always nice to have options but not always easy to know which options are best.
