The Pacers try to secure their second three-game winning streak of the season when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night. The Pacers have won five of their last six games including wins over Boston and Orlando earlier this week.
Paul George continues doing most of the heavy lifting, heading into the game with a 23.8 points per game average. Minnesota's Andrew Wiggins presents a young, defensive-minded player to throw at PG which should make for a great matchup at both ends of the floor.
The Wolves have an interesting mix of youth and veteran experience which has played well so far this year. They were 4-2 before losing their last two, both without point guard Ricky Rubio (hamstring). With or without Rubio, the Minny appears big on paper, starting a front line with Karl-Anthony Towns, Kevin Garnett and Tayshaun Prince, along with the 6'8 Wiggins. However, Garnett (39) and Prince (35) are playing supporting roles in the rotation even though they are in the starting lineup.
That presents the Pacers with a good opportunity to remain small against the bigger lineup and force Minnesota to adjust. Although, the idea of C.J. Miles guarding Kevin Garnett still sounds odd.
Wiggins played last night after missing a game with a sore knee. Rubio sat out last night and remains questionable for tonight. The Pacers will be without Rodney Stuckey (ankle) and Myles Turner (thumb).
