The Summer Pacers take on the Summers Celtics in their second game at the Orlando Pro Summer League. Donald Sloan stood out with 21 points in the lackluster loss to the Summer Nets on Saturday morning.
The Summer C's won their first game against the SHeat on Saturday with Kelly Olynyk doing work inside and Mike Moser getting it done on the perimeter. Game time is at 3 p.m. ET so drop on by during the game.
Also, Candace Buckner reports that the Pacers hired former IU player and college coach, Pat Knight to serve as the team's West Coast scout. Prior to getting into the college coaching game, Knight spent time in the scouting department for the Phoenix Suns.
Knight roomed with Pacers' scouting director Ryan Carr at IU and Buckner (Candace, not Quinn, whose son also works on Carr's scouting staff) captures how Knight's hiring happened following a Carr's check-in call to Knight after he was fired at Lamar.
"And then honest to God, he called me like five minutes later," Knight recalled. (Carr said) 'You're not going to believe this. Larry just texted me and said he wanted to hire you.'"
When told about the Pacers' West Coast plans and the prospect of moving his family, Knight still jumped at the opportunity.
"No problem. I would have done anything. If Larry had a job on his farm, I would've done it," Knight joked. "I mean, it's Larry Bird!"
