The Indiana Pacers know something about playing desperate with no margin for error after having been there and done that in their first round playoff series win over the Atlanta Hawks.

With a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals, the Pacers will try to close out the desperate Washington Wizards in Game 5 on Tuesday. Aside from the "under my thumb" Game 3 win by the Pacers, this series is not that far from being 3-1 in favor of the Wiz. Experience down the stretch in the tight finishes of Games 2 and 4 helped pushed the Pacers to the brink of winning the series.

The Pacers have also had their big names step forward, with Roy Hibbert shining in Game 2 and Paul George taking over Game 4. Closing out a series early is a different beast, which presents the Pacers with an opportunity flash their championship mettle and show their ready to take the next step.

A strong team effort with a healthy contribution from the reserve unit would be a nice way to finish off Game 5 at home and give everyone in the playing rotation the boost of confidence they will surely need in the next round.

I talked about the series and the updated state of the Pacers on The Phil Naessens Show. Check it out!
